Hey guys. I need some help from some of you old jeepers. I have a '75 cj5 with the stock steering column. How exactly do I set up the horn to the steering column? I posted some pictures do you can see what I'm looking at.
The first one is the horn wire just in case your wondering.
Not positive but I think you wire that wire to the horn button itself, so when you push on the horn and it makes contact with metal it go,s off. Its been many years since I installed one but seems thats how it went.
The center brass looking ring on the lower end of the column is where you need to make contact. It has to be something that will just ride on it's surface but not grounded. If done correctly, the center horn contact by the steering wheel should complete the continuity when you ground the center button to anything that's grounded to the negative side of the battery.
As I recall when I put a Grant wheel on 'Betty' there a spring that is of greater diameter than the contact point that the horn button rides on. I'm in the process of moving and my TSM is in a box somewhere.
