the above is on a street right outside garner state park. this is actually one of many roads that the water crosses on top of the road so it makes it fun to drive and nice and cool in the summer when you go moderately fast. the only bummer was the placement of the alternator so i am going to have to do some reading on relocating it to a space where it doesn't get wet every time you get near water.

this is from a hill top about 5 miles from the bridge above.

i put almost a thousand miles on the jeep this week. gas mileage ranged from 9 mpg to 12.8 mpg.

Nice to see pics of anouther part of the country, haven't been to Texas yet. I was thinking about the water and alternator situation. Would a skid plate under the engine help with the water issue, had been thinking about putting one on mine just because of the water and mud getting into the engine compartment.

i didn't know they came with a guard on the bottom. whats it look like? i will have to look for one of those now.

gennybro, we have everything here in texas. we have woods and hills like virginia in east texas. desert in west texas. rolling plains with scrub brush in south texas, we have the hill country and caves in many sections of texas for spelunking. plus, a very long coast line. texas is its own country with all the different regions. its very nice.

my dad was stationed in quantico for a long time. we spent a lot of summers in virginia out in the woods and camping at some nice lake. dad didn't like living in town so he commuted over an hour so his house could be out in the country. that is the first place i remember going 4x4ing, out in those deep virginia woods on the power line trails and down some creeks. over 20 years ago, now.

My 95 has a rubber guard or Flap I guess you could call it that keeps most of the water and mud out.
Are you reffering to inside the wheel well? I have a flap there also, but I'm thinking of putting something directly under the engine, weather it be a metal skid plate , or even some sort of nylon or plastic sheeting to keep the mud and water from flying up into the engine compartment.

I should have said mine had one.... it snaps with those plastic push lock things to the bottom of the fan shroud and snaps from frame to frame. Mine fell apart when I removed it to replace the radiator so I threw it away.. I have looked everywhere for one with no luck.

Ok, same as BMW's have then. Can be made from big rig mud flaps also then

Looks like beutiful country. I have a daughter in san Antonio and she has been inviting me and the little woman out to visit. The son inlaw just retired from the service and we should get out there soon.

you should head over and visit them, san antonio is about an hour and a half from these shots. san antonio is hilly like this but less trees. visit in december to april or hte heat is horrible up there though as san antonio has no wind so it just cooks you.

Good idea, maybe instead of the snaps on the frame, drill and tap holes for a 1/4 20 bolt. Maybe overkill, but I like things secure.

sounds better then snaps because the snaps would break and drop the guards on bmws
