I bought a 93' 2.5 engine from Craigslist last week that I'm going to have rebuilt to replace a very tired 2.5 in my '93 YJ, I got my first quote today from the local auto machine shop for "about" $1300. The machinist said other than increasing the deplacement a bit he'd upgrade the cam and work the head a little... does this sound like a fair quote or should I keep shopping? The shop is a NAPA affiliate and the work comes with 7 year or 70k warrenty, of course prices are diffrent in other parts of the country but I don't suppose there's that big of a diffrence. Its possible I could do it my self but I know I'd still have to have the machining done and of course no warrenty. Any opinions on the quote? Thanks.
