Slaughterhouse Gulch Run

We went out again this weekend. A group of 4 vehicles went for a try at Slaughterhouse gulch this weekend. We had fun. There is Still a lot of snow on the trail. We didn't get very far and snow blocked us in both places.

The winch was used. We needed the full regimen of supplies including the tree strap, the clevis, the snatchblock and a snatch strap. One of the guys found out his "lunch-box" locker was not working, effectively giving him 3 wheel drive. On snow, that translates into hard slides to the passenger side. He ended up parking his rig, but joined the rest of us as we went on.

Still, it was fun to get out and do some snow bashing!

The four vehicles in the foreground was our group. The white Bronco was open differentials.

Here Brian was about to snatch him out. Didn't work so we had to winch him out...

Next weekend is the annual "Old Fart's" run out to Chinaman's Gulch near Buena Vista. Looking forward to it!

We got more snow tonight. 6" by my house (although little is sticking on the streets or sidewalks). 4" at my office.

With two weeks or so to go to Moab, I won't be going on the Chinaman's Gulch run this weekend. If I am going to junk my stuff, I'd rather do it in Moab then on a snowy trail in Buena Viste, Colorado...

Photobucket does a good job with my photos. I like their service a lot.

The camera I use is a small 4 MP sureshot. I think it does a great job!

I have to look at the bright side, though. Maybe I can get the ARB locker in the Ford 8.8 back axle this weekend instead...

wheelin with a group = $100
seein all the old pals over beer = $100
having a good ol time wile breaking stuff = $1000

traiding it all in for a plethera of traction (and bloody knukles) = priceless

Your going to need it Cewtwo...we have Pritchet Canyon on the list...and thats going to require lockers .
My Friend Dave is thinking its time to get another taste of his seat cover sucked up from the ole back side....and is mumbling about he needs Behind the rocks trail to get his "Dark Side" shirt...not sure I am up to it...but....

The ARB rear axle locker is in!!!

I have done most of behind the rocks. I went as far north as the Roller Coaster. That was a good challenge. We turned around and headed back.

I've also done most of the trails in the area.
Cliff hanger, Poison spider, Golden Spike, Gold Bar rim, Gemini bridges, Bull Canyon, Klondike Bluffs, Salt flats road, steel bender, metal masher, hell's revenge, fins & things, kane creek, shaffer trail (pre Molly), the entire potash road, etc. etc. etc.

I am looking forward to it!

I love going down roller coaster, but you turned around way too soon. The best was yet to come, White Knuckle hill and mother-in-laws drop off.
Then it would have been a nice run to Pritchet Arch and the back side of Pritchet Canyon.

Well through Pm's it looks like we are going to miss each other by a few days, my party got pushed back a week because they were more worried about leaving their work short handed...messed up people....you have Moab on one hand.. and work on the other...what would you vote for?!!?
(Shut up Sparky we all know your dedicated little worker bee)
Now I ask you folks really what would you vote for here?!?!

Cough, cough... Can't come in. Need to recuperate. Bright sun, warm environment! Should be able to return soon...

Is that Moab calling?
