i would say you really do need one, i think it is mandatory for all lifted yj/tj[addsig]

It all depends on the size of your lift. I only have a 2 1/2" lift so I can get away without a SYE kit for now but I'm still gonna get one when finances will allow me to. With a 4" lift I would think that you probably have a lot of driveline vibrations and you could possible rip out your driveshaft at full articulation when off road. I would recommend getting one.[addsig]

You don't need one if you have a transfer case lowering kit (spacers between transfer case skid and frame). You likely have the TC lowering kit, or you wouldn't be able to drive the Jeep. Most have either the TC drop or SYE at 4" of lift.

If you don't have any driveshaft vibrations on the highway, and are fine with how things are, don't let them get back in your wallet :-O [addsig]
