I sure hope some one can help me with this seems the dealerships dont have a clue. A couple weeks ago my steering wheel came loose after taking off the steering wheel i found a bearing that had fallen apart. I can not find this bearing anywere and a wrecking yard wont tear down a good column . I cant be the only one who has had this problem. Does any one no were to get this bearing a part # or some kind of advice on how to fix this. thank you for any input TJ [addsig]

tj... i haven't seen this bearing before... but i worked with bicycles for 4 years... and i've seen every type of bearing you'll ever see. is the bearing you pulled out a cartridge? loose ball? loose ball in a cage? you could probalby just look up "bearings" in the yellow pages and find a seller... thats what we always did for finding those odd-hard-to-find bearings...[addsig]

Steering columns will really mess with you. Just a thought, but many of the columns, the top part anyway where Chevy.
I had the bearing your talking about (I think) come apart on me once, after hunting for all the pieces for about an hour and finding the last bearing stuck in the bottom of my shoe. I put the whole thing back together again, pressed the little tabs and it worked fine.
Was your steering wheel kinda wobbly?
I know for sure many (most, all) of the YJ´s with tilt steering were Chevy columns. Look at a blow up somewhere, of the Chevy column and compare. The part you need might be a close as the nearest GM dealer and cheaper.[addsig]
