straight exhaust?

It's time to redo my exhaust, I'm pretty sure I am going to replace from the header to the tip, I have made a custom exhaust for my 67 mustang but the jeep seems to be a little more complicated. What I want to do is get the least amount of bends in the pipes as possible. what is the best way to route the pipes? Is there anyway to keep it all on the drivers side? I noticed that there is no real room over the skidplate on the drivers side due to the front drive shaft and transfer case. I also want to end the whole exhaust before the rear axle. I am going to put a supertrapp on the end and point it out in front of one of the rear wheels. If anyone has done custom exhaust routes that they feel like sharing it would be great help. Thanks![addsig]

your 91 shouldn't be too much different from my 92, so running your exaust down the driver's side would place that hot pipe right next to your fuel lines. at least that's where mine are.

that'll effectively heat your fuel - probably not to explosive levels, but certainly hotter than if the pipe were on the passenger side. remember colder fuel = more power.

where in jersey? i'm from newark.

why are you in jersey???? :-O [addsig]

I totally forgot about the fuel lines being there... looks like I need to make some bends... I'm right next to Asbury Park... and I don't know why I am in Jersey, I guess the money lured me here and the beach kept me.[addsig]

I am not too sure on the emmision regulations in New Jersey, but if possible, replace the header, downpipe, and put on a high flow cat, then just buy your muffler of choice (flowmaster, I know you want one) and have a shop bend a pipe so it exits to the side of the vehicle just prior the passenger rear tire.
If you can just end it under the vehicle do so , but you run a extreme risk of carbon monoxide poisoning when you are in traffic or slow moving[addsig]

the guys at my meineke are always bored... and when i bring them a custom project, they love doing it. go have a chat and see if they can crush-bend you something. offer to buy them lunch. :-)[addsig]

If you go under the frame to exit in front of the rear tire, you'll eventually bash the exhaust pipe. Why the supertrapp, that's for ricers :-O [addsig]

Why supertrapp? Cause it saves room (between 10 and 18" long) and it sounds suprisingly nice... They are not just for ricers anymore... I saw a PAIR of supertrapps on a 68 Chevelle once, then my buddy put them on his Toyota truck. It sounds really good! It's just an idea for now though... [addsig]

BigBlackJeep bought his jeep with the exhaust ending under his vehicle... he never had a problem with being smoked out or anything... BUT... he DID burn his shock bushings in a matter of 2 months...
I also had a friend who exited his exhaust out near the rear wheels.... and from being in traffic a lot, and stopping alot... he went through 2 tires on that wheel before going through any other.... if you route it there.. make sure you route it well away from the tire[addsig]
