Swap a 95 xj for a 96 xj rear end

Should be a small metal tag bolted to each diff cover, post the numbers on the tags. Front axle also has them, so whichever still has the tag or is legible. May take a wire brush to read them.

If you bring your VIN # to the dealer he well be able to give you a print out of most everything about your jeep. I believe they call it a buildout sheet.

There are 2 Rear axle options on a 95 and a 96 XJ. you would either have a Dana 35c/194mm ,sales code DRM, With trac-lok differential, Sales code DSA or a Dana 44/ 226mm, Sales code DRK.

Mopar axle was also available and D44 went away @'93 except in tow packages.

1984 - 1990 had dana 35 or dana 44. 1991-1993 had dana 44. 1991-1996 hand dana 35 or chrysler 8.25. Most 5 speeds had dana 35 unless factory tow. Most auto trans had 3.55 gear ratio. Check diff tags or vin# with local dealer for build sheet.
