Tach red line

I have an amc 360 and I'm installing a tachometer. does anyone know what the red line point is on this engine?

Usually between 4800 and 5200. Depending on the veh. All depends on camshaft. Cars were higher while trucks were lower.

At the moment it is but I'm prob going to put throw on a 4" suspension lift over the summer. Think that will matter?

Nah. Only engine mods will change that. A cam change u could prob get 5700 out of a stock motor but I wouldn't push it. Keep in mind that u will usually be shifting way below that unless your really baggin on it. Sounds like a sweet rig though.

Thanks and it's not stock. It's got hooker headers, eldebrock manifold, eldebrock carb, and hei distributor. I love it!

Cool cool. Not Gunna lie u would never find an edelbrock carb on any of my rigs but there intakes are good. Good choice on headers to. as long as ur happy and it runs good that's great.

Hooker Headers  I'm waiting for my made in lower slovobia headers to develop a hole or other failure so I can warrant funds for a pair of Hookers.
As I recall on a '77 I had a couple of decades ago it had Hookers and I had no trouble torqueing the header bolts due to their unique tube design, there was enough clearance to get a socket on all the header bolts. Is it still this way?

Why don't you like Edelbrock carbs?

I'm a Holley man. I drag race and tried edelbrock. Wasn't happy with them. Two leaked third one wouldn't run and the fourth one had very poor response. Tried everything to get it right. Nothin. So went to Holley never looked back. And I've never made this much power. In the 12s with a small block powered chevy truck that weighs 5000 lbs. Not saying they ain't good carbs just four bad experiences.

X2 on the Edelbrock Carter clones. When I purchased my ole '78 it came equipped with Edelbrock carb and intake. Despite needle and seat changes it wouldn't run full song. On occasion it would seem as though she just ran out of fuel. Ultimately a carb fire and subsequent fire extinguisher residue made for a sticky powery mess.
Luckily, I had purchased back from a friend an actual Carter AFB~Black Stallion  (powder coated) from my old Chevy 350. He could never get it to run on his 327, so when I bought it back, I simply leaned out the needle/seat and put the next step up (stiffer) springs into it and whiz~bang! Been running well ever since. Not to rank on Edelbrock for the expansive help they gave me for the setting up of this Black Stallion carb & removing a pipe plug from this manifold, but I remain dubious about their AFB clones.
