Everyone ****es and moans when something bad happens to them and the cops fail to do something that may or may not have prevented it. Well, how about all the money spent on PSA's telling people to "buckle up" or "don't drink and drive"? Who's the first to ***** when they get pulled over for disobeying one of these laws? If you're goin to break the law and then complain when the cops do their job by trying to enforce it then you can't be mad at them when it doesn't look like they did enough to prevent your accident from happening. When in reality they did everything they could short of personally fastening the belt for them. I'm sorry that these kids died, but the bottom line is they'd probably still be alive if they had been wearing there seatbelts. Moreover, the accident probably wouldn't have happened had they not been drinking prior.

I'd be willing to be money that these people will file a civil suit against the city and the police department. And the terrible reality is the city will probably settle out of court to avoid publicity when, in fact, they did nothing wrong and should be completely exhonerated. :x

It sounds like alot of people did alot of things wrong.

Teens drinking and driving.. when will people get the message? It's a darn good thing they didn't kill an entire family who just happened to cross their path.

not wearing seat belts... who knows in a crash like that, but odds are it would have helped

the police, from the story I ready, didn't search the area very good

Sucks... I smell lawsuit too.

facts are;
They were not wear belts.
They were drinking prior to the accident.
They were speeding. (tire blow out causes 15 roll overs, cummon)

This is all prior to the law enforcement got involved.

Again, sucks, but when you are playig with fire, someone is bound to get burned.

It sucks that we live in a sue happy world but the article didnt mention anything like that. The only fact that matters here is that there is a grieving family. They obviously arent thinking clearly by the fact that they dont believe the medical examiner that the boys died instantly.

I dont think this is a clear cut case of the woman should just be quiet and except what happened. She didnt make the decision to drink or not wear a seat belt. She lost a child and is extremely upset.

The real problem lies with the media who is in their face interviewing them shortly after the incident. There is a difference between reporting the news and fishing for a story.

A medical examiner determined they died instantaneously of blunt-force injuries that were "nonsurvivable," said Jeff Wells, spokesman for the Lake County coroner's office.

But the Smiths said they are unsure of this assessment.

Good thing the Smith's know more than a medical examiner, they really should be police officers/dispatchers/medical examiners themselves and these kinds of tragedies wouldn't happen. The kids made a long series of mistakes, and now it's the fault of the police that the two victims are dead :lol:

This is actually one of the reasons why I wouldn't pursue a career in law enforcement when I retire from the Army. I'm afraid I wouldn't be so kind to some people who chose to ignore the rules. I can't stand to see LEO's take the rap for someone elses decision to be an idiot. Yes....there are some LEO's that are probably on the wrong side of right, but for the most part I want to believe that they are all doing their jobs to the best of their abilities.
