Tire and Rim Width (Question)

I have 15 x 8 Canyon rims and looking to upgrade to 33 x 12.5 BF AT's tires. I referenced an BF AT chart that says the minimum rim width for those tires is 8.5 inches.

I've seen some reader rides that have the 33 x 12.5's on 8 inch rims though.

Does anyone know if they will fit?

with that wide of a tire, they'll rub BIG TIME unless you get OFFSET wheels... if i were you i'd sell those canyon rims on ebay (get like 400 bucks for them) and go pick up some black AR rims (seems that every jeep enthusiast likes those rims) for like 40 bucks a pop that are 15x10 with a better offset...

The tire will fit on the rim, as 12.5" tires are often used on an 8" rim to avoid getting trail gunk in the bead, and rock rash on the lip of the rim. You will have trouble fitting the rim/tire combo on the Jeep because the stock rims don't have enough backspacing. The tires will rub the spring cups and the control arms. It may be possible with .75" or 1" wheel spacers if you're set on using those rims.

If you get aftermarket wheels, you can get 8", just get a lot more backspacing (distance from wheel mounting surface to inside rim lip).[addsig]
