tire size on lifted yj

a 4" would fit 33's so i would think you could put 35's on it.. your rim will play a big part in that. If the back spacing of the rim is not right you may contact the front spring at full turn. Im dealing with this right now. I have 35x14.50 and hit my front spring at full turn. your rear axle should be a D35 which is not the strongest axle for 35" tires. then again, I am running a D44 with 2peice axles(not desirable) like the amc model 20 on 35's with a 350hp engine and it holds up just fine.

A 35 inch tire is about as big as you can go with 6 inches of lift. There may be some rubbing at full articulation if the bump stops aren't right.
As far as the tires rubbing on the springs. There's a stop bolt that you can adjust to prevent this. It's on your spindle housing and hits the axle at fill turn. Adjust it out till the tire hits no more and reset the jam nut.

Tire size can be deceiving. For example I seen brand new 35" MTZs and Super Swampers, unmounted and side by side... The Swampers where somewhere around 1.5"-2" higher. Don't ask me why. Swampers ran big or MTZs ran small... Take your choice.

My old MTZs were dead on 35" on an 8" wheel but my buddys KM2s on the same wheel were just over 33". My current 38" TSLs are just shy of 38".
That being said with the flares still on 35s, with them off and a bit of trimming 40s. But with the stock axles don't go bigger than 33s.

Well I'm thinking of 33-10.50-15 get the bigger tire with less width. This should be a good combination and it won't kill the little 2.5

It will feel like your killing that little motor, from what I read. I have only had lifted 6 cylinder jeeps so I don't have first hand knowledge

We geared my brother's old YJ to 4.88s to run 33s with a 4 banger and it did OK. With stock gears it had no power and he constantly shifted between 3rd and 4th. 5th wasn't even an option.
