For some reason the paint on my mirror bracket is coming off and it looks really bad. I want to try and touch it up. I have a black TJ with im guessing a factory black paint job. Where can I get the right paint that will match up?[addsig]

You could go to the dealer, or go to a local autobody supply shop, I would expect it to be cheaper at the autobody supply shop. Hope this helps ya Evan[addsig]

The best touch-up paint in the world is all over- MUD!!! :-D :-D :-D

But seriously- just take a little sandpaper to it or a wire brush/dremel and get rid of all the paint and buy some spray paint. It won't last as long as factory paint obviously, but the key to any paint job is the prep. If the prep isn't there, the paint won't be there long either-[addsig]

What I do for touch up paint; is take the gas cap cover and the VIN number to a good body shop. A quart of automotive paint isn´t cheap, but will last pretty much forever, pick up the rquired hardener and thinner to go with it and it becomes alot easier to keep things nice. Some of the masters at the body shop are really good at matching colors, but something from the vehicle to try it out on helps, paint often dries a different color and the factory paint charts don´t always work.
The factory has been using a cold galvinizing process for years, paint doesn´t stick well to it.
Like the man said preperation is the key to paint sticking. Sanding and priming.
Engine paint (rattle can) seems to work well, for small items, flat or gloss. Dries fast and seems to be a little tougher than normal enamel.
Re did the grill, on the wifes XJ, with black gloss engine enamel (rattle can), looked good for years.
