New to the site and world of Jeeps. I recently purchased a 78 CJ5 from a buddy and am not ripping into the mechanic side. It has the AMC 304 but I am unsure of what transmission it has. I have stamped markings but haven't found any where that can tell what I have by the numbers. I haven't gone to any local shops as there are very few around me with Jeep knowledge.
I'm juggling the idea of dropping in a 350/383 striker against keeping with the Jeep family and running the 304. Would be helpful to know which trans is in it before I go any further. Thanks for any help with this!
