well, here I am again..I solved some of my runability problems thanks to all your help, and here i am with another..

I have a 89 jeep cherokee limited 4x4,4.0,aotomatic.

The truck runs very well, except for a hesitation when starting out.My main concern though is this,The transmission will start out in first gear like normal, then shift through all the other gears very quickly,by time i reach 20mph im in overdrive.

Here is a list of things ive done recently....

new spark plugs,wires,cap,and rotor....
new fuel filter..i also replaced the injectors with ones from a 93 4.0 ho motor(could this be my problem)?
new crank sensor, new iac motor, totally cleaned and disassembled and thouroughly cleaned throttle body..
new air filter,new map sensor,
New trans filter and fluid.

my trans isnt slipping, just shifting way to fast...and then there is the hesitation problem...so there you have 2 different problems..i sure hope you can help out!! Thanks for all the great advice!!!

Just a wild thought - I don't have a Cherokee - but........I had a little Chevy S-10 that was causing similar problems - almost got me killed a few times pulling out in traffic. Wound up the cat was shot. I coulda swore it was my transmission going out, but, due to the computer, it was all interrelated. Just a thought - hope it helps.

thats the next thing im goiong to check..the complete exhaust system is 4 years old...when i had it custom built they welded all the components together, and the way they did it,i will have to cut the cat off to check it,and then replace it by welding it back on...i cant wait!! lol...any other ideas from anyone will be greatly appreciated!! thank you mud4feet!

TPS, or throttle position sensor. Your TCM receives input from several sources, one main one is from the throttle position sensor. There are several web articles on testing it's correct output voltage at closed and open throttle.

Also adjust your TV Cable (throttle valve).

If all else fails, it's your TCM. You should be able to remove the fuse for the TCM and shift the transmission manually.
