Unusual Clutch Problem 87 YJ 4 Banger

Just pulled my clutch today and the plates were not that bad, yet it was nearly imposible to get into gear and was getting worse. Took it to the local clutch and break Shop to have the plates relined and the flywheel and Presure plate resurfaced. The dude at the clutch shop found that the presure plate diaphram was cracked and caused it to seem as if the clutch was much more worn than it really was. Just something unusual! Have ever heard of such a problem. Thanks Tug

I had a problem close to what your having I ended up replacing my pressure plate, putting new pads on the clutch, resurfacing the flywheel, and replacing the slave and master cylinders. After I took care of all of these little problems it still had a hard time going into gear. In the end I ended up replacing the bearing and blockers in my transmission. Just thought I'd give ya a heads-up so ya don't have to go though the same troubles I did. Hope it is just the pressure plate.
