I don't think it would be worth making into a working winch. Doesn't have power out, and would be difficult to get parts for and difficult to modify 8274 parts to work. Your best bet would be parting out the winch on Ebay, or trying to double your investment by selling it outright.

The Warn family owned a Jeep dealership in Kent, WA in the 40s. They contacted a machine shop in Portland, OR called Bellevue to make hubs that can unlock for on road driving. Bellevue made these hubs and Warn marketed them. Around 1960, a Bellevue machinist made the first electric winch, prior to that, they were all PTO. You could buy a Bellevue winch straight from Bellevue with out any Warn insignia on it. In the mid 70s Warn bought Bellevue ( Warn may have marketed the Bellevue before the purchase of Bellevue Machine, but I am not sure). They upgraded many components including the brake system to a disc type setup, along with many other things. My 8274 says, Warn Ind, Kent WA. I am not sure when they moved to their current facility in Clackamas, OR, or the year of my winch, but to tell you the truth, the Bellevue winches are not that desirable. I think you can upgrade many of the parts to the new style if so desired.

How much do u think I could sell it for in that rough of shape

$100, maybe. I bought my Warn 8274 for $100, it had a build date of 1975 and works great. They usually go for a bit more.

what is missing from this thing? that you can see?
do you think i could use some jumper cables to see if it works?

The solenoid box is a big one. You should be able to test it with cables.

Not sure I'd want to bother mounting it without a power-out option.

from everything ive read (i very well may be wrong) everybody is saying they dont have a solenoid box. Im reading they ground the winch to the frame and run a hot wire from the motor to a switch and from the switch to the battery. Thats not word for word but pretty much in short form.

might be easier to sell the rims to someone else and dont worry about trying to sell an old winch

I agree, the market for your rims is much bigger than the market for a Warn Bellevue. So the rims will be much easier to sell than the winch.
Unless you specifically wanted this winch to restore for an old project than I say sell the rims don't trade for this winch.

Yeah I think I'm just gonna sell the rims, oh by the way does anybody want some black rims for a CJ? Hahaha
