This is in reference to this type of condition ( see this post )

2012 Fender stress crack causing paint to crack? - Jeep Wrangler Forum

I do not want to hear how all the plastic fenders have it and it is NORMAL.
It is a HORRIBLE surface preparation before painting on the painted fenders.
Like I said to them and in that post. If it was the same on BOTH fenders
then I would consider it NORMAL. So if your happy spending 30 to 40
THOUSAND dollars of your hard earned money for a crappy paint job
then sign on the line and take delivery. Otherwise .... consider yourself
PREWARNED about it and get it in WRITTING that your Dealer or Jeep
will repair the fenders like they should be. I wish I saw that old post
before signing my purchase order. You should see some of the fenders
I checked at some dealers. I am happy mine are not as bad as those.
Good Luck ...
Rob ....

OMG, not cracks in the paint.

Honestly, having to deal with Chrysler in the past for warranty issues, way easier to just buy new flares and be done. My time is worth way more than a set of flares.

Wow, you would think they would knock that down before painting. I hope you get some resolution with Jeep.

I see you over on WF some times but Welcome to Jeepz!

It's a shame that they state it's normal. It's bad quality. If they just took the time to shave off that 'seam', this wouldn't be an issue. It's bad prep prior to paint. A lot of people take it for granted that when they spend 30-40K on a vehicle that it's going to be pristine. I'm sure the threads on the forums will bring it to a lot of people's attention though and thanks for that. I've always avoided the Saharas or any painted flare because I'd expect the paint to crack and chip on the plastic fenders. In the case of my current JK, I replaced the fenders within a week of buying it.

I have painted flares on my 04 and the only problem I've had was my own doing. I hit a small tree right on the fender trying to make it up a steep hill and just scratched the paint a bit. They obviously prepped them right on the TJ's and I think it's a crying shame they are trying to pass that off as normal. I would be ****ed.

Luckily mine are not too bad but ones on the lots I have checked
since have some really, really bad looking fenders. My Wife said
she would not have even noticed if I did not tell her about it and
most people would not noticed mine either. I noticed it after I gave
it a nice wash and while waxing saw it. When you park near one
check it out yourself and some you will see you will say to yourself WTF ...
My Dealer tried and I went 2 levels above them for an answer ( Chrysler
Business Center ). I guess I could take them to small claims court
but it is not worth my time. If they were worse I probably would !
That being said .... I love my 2013 JKU especially since installing
Trek Armor seat covers. So damm comfortable driving it I do not
want to get out. It drives and rides so nice and honestly the best
vehicle I have bought since getting my 1st Dodge van in 1974.
Even better than my Wife's 2005 Z71 Avalanche 4x4
