We've got RSS now

So, I think Mingez asked for an RSS feed some time ago, and I said to myself "what the heck is an RSS feed?" Well, I installed Vista, and found that I can have news (RSS) feeds on my desktop. I've turned it on, and I must admit, it's pretty cool!

How... where...

Okay, it's my turn to ask...

What the heck is an RSS feed?

oh yeah, if you have a newer internet explorer, just click on the rss feed button (looks like and orange square). This will give you the latest threads from Jeepz.com.

You can also pull rss feeds from other places. I have a block on my computer's desktop that now displays the latest threads (it's feature of vista though).

That's pretty cool - I want it.

Well I spent alot more money when I bought this computer 2 months ago so I could upgrade to Vista. I figured on upgrading after the first SP comes out for it. How's it working? Any bugs?

I own Macs and run Safari ... if you post the URL for the RSS feed, I'll see if I can connect!

It works with mozilla in the bookmarks toolbar as a "live bookmark".

It look like you can use RSS with XP, but I don't have an application for it yet.

Works great on a Mac running Safari. Safari uses the Mozilla code so Firefox should work as well.

Looks like a winner!!

Very cool, I'll have to give it a try. I live by my RSS feeds and just about get my fill of all my favorites websites without ever having to actually go to the site. I highly recommend Google reader. http://www.google.com/reader.

You won't need Vista to get ESS feeds, if you have Internet Explorer 7 (its a free download from Microsoft) or you can use a seperate RSS accumulator such as http://www.jetbrains.com/omea/ Omea another free download that will do RSS even Newsgroups. I love RSS feeds, get the headlines you want, at your desktop, if the headline looks interesting, click on it and there you go. No need to check 20 websites a day. I use it for Jeep news, Sports, computer etc...
