Ok engine is a 258 I6 in a 87 wrangler.
On the passenger side at the REAR of the block is what I think is the oil pressure sending unit. Directly adjacent to it is an electrical sender of sorts with a 2 wire plug. One of my wires is cut and hanging the other is a 16-14 guage orange wire.
I can not find this on any electrical drawings.
ANY HELP??

Is your oil pressure sender the stock one and your stock gage is working?

It looks like the stock sending unit installed vertical and yes my guage is working. Th unit in question is installed horizontal facing towards the front of vehicle .previous owner had someone install a motorcraft distributor and coil.
Still having a few performance issues and I am thinking it could be some kind of knox senser or ?? Wires were cut and I want to "clean it up"
I have no Idea as to what this thing is -see pic

i have a 4.0 block and my unit is laying horizontally but facing the rear. i have an extra connector in the same spot and i have no idea what its for either

well its not an air valve because it screws into a T fitting with the oil sender unit.
Does anyone out there have a bone stock 87 wrangler w/4.2?
I think I spotted it also on a 1990 as well

I looked in a 90 FSM and only found an oil pressure switch and an oil gauge sending unit attached to the engine block oil galley port.

Hey Mikey you nailed it. I looked at a 1990 and it is a pressure switch that enables the 12 volt supply to feed to the starter solinoid once pressure is up it then allows startup.Ensuring that you dont have a dry start condition. It was jumped out for whatever reason but I checked it and its good and works fine.
Thanks everyone!!!
