Ok I recently purchased a 87yj 4.2 Laredo with 98,000 original miles in fairly good condition so I thought!
Ran like crap -no problem I can fix it,leaks, ok I can fix it >>> well you get the point.
I spent 3k for this thing cuz I had to have a hard top 6cyl to replace the 95 rio grande 2.5 . And thanks to all of you most of my delimas have been resolved without pulling my hair out.
well I stripped it down and began sanding and well after replacing a few hidden rusted out areas, new exhaust timing chain and cover, rebuilt the carb and installed new fuel tank. New weatherstripping will be installed once paint is complete.I am now in the paint process and I am going back to the original black on black with silver to match my rv.
overall cost will be at $4600.00 and it should be really clean once completed.
Thought I would toss in a pic or two as I go.

Looks good. Are you painting inside of the tub, or are you planning on doing a line-x type of liner?

I used krylon fusion and spent about 4 hours cleaning and prep work. I'm going to paint the inside also.

I used krylon fusion and spent about 4 hours cleaning and prepping. I wanted to keep the top lite so no line x or rhino line

so no more matching 87 wranglers? my black will be all by itself now

I've been fixing all my breaks from last weeks wheeling trip. I was bound up pretty bad, the torque ended up splitting the front pinion yoke clear into two, and in the process tore up the pinion seal, replaced the yoke on the trail, but had to put in a new pinion seal. also replaced a front u-bolt that took a bad hit and spent some time working on finishing the re-wire job on my jeep. should be ready for trail ride next weekend. I just need to service the trailer axles, I think one had a bad bearing.

SUPERJ You are NOT alone
on the road this weekend!!!!! Fresh paint ,new weatherstripping, and running like a clock!8)
