99' Wrangler, 70k mi... Engine whistles at about 1000 rpm, mainly while the truck is decelerating and the clutch is in- and it stops (or fades out) after the vehicle comes to a complete stop. Keeps whistling @ idle on cold mornings, less prevalent when humid/warm... New (and tight) belts, any suggestions apart from that? Gets pretty loud at times :S. Thanks[addsig]

Check your vacuume lines? could be reverse pressure on one of the as you let off and the engin winds down. Good luck hope this helps Tug[addsig]

Thanks, I'll look into it tomorrow... Might very well be leaky vacuum lines, somehow doubt the previous owner maintained the truck very well :)[addsig]

Check for a vacuum leak. Get a handheld propane torch from the hardware store (like what plumbers use to sweat pipes). With the torch on and unlit, Jeep engine running, move the torch around the intake manifold and all vacuum lines. When the idle jumps up, you've found your intake leak.[addsig]

This may work but it can be dangerous...But you could have used starting fluid...

:-O
It is much safer to use a can of starting fluid and when the engine sputters you found your leak... :-D [addsig]
