whats up guys?
my brother was helping a feller change his clutch in his 2001 4.0 5speed. the transmission is back in and it wont go in gear when running unless the tcase is in neutral. thanks

ok correction. just got more info. all they did was change the throw out bearing, not the clutch.

Shouldn't need to bleed the slave, its external and the seal isn't broken when servicing the clutch.

my friend is the one who owns this jeep. Ive been helping him work on it. He told me (before he asked for help) that he took the slave cylinder out and or apart. :???: Anyways, he might have air in the system. ? How would we bleed such a system if so?

Ok. Well, we pulled his transmission again. He had just installed a new throwout bearing and put everything together before I could get over there and look everything over. This new throwout bearing didnt last 10min. Its in pieces also just like the original.

So anyways, we pulled the transmission and see that the input shaft sleeve thing is broken.

How did that happen? Where to get a new one?

I looked at his clutch, and its toast. Thats prolly alot of the reason why it wouldnt go into gear initially.
So, he has bought a new one to install.
