YJ 4.2 alternator bracket same as cherokee??

'87 YJ alternator bracket broke

I know a guy who has the straight 6 in a cherokee, he said I can have the bracket. Do any of you know if it is the same? I don't want to drive a long ways just to find out that it is the wrong bracket when I should have gone to town (same distance but opposite direction) and got on from a wrecking yard.

according to my friend the engine he has in a 4.0 liter and I have the 4.2 liter.

The pictures I get on google seem to show that the 4.0 is a serpentine belt which is making me think they will be different.....

They're different. The XJ alternator mounts at the bottom of the engine, opposite a YJ setup.
