just a few days ago i started having some issues with my jeep. Not sure what it could be. This only happens within the first few minutes of driving and once the jeep is warmed up it goes away. When i drive it sounds as if it stalls and the rpm wont go up. ill be pressing on the accelerator and the jeep wont go anywhere and then randomly i get pump and it accelorates rapidly, as if it was clogged or something. when this happens it occurs a few times and then goes away and i dont get a problem from it until its been sitting for a while. any ideas?

sounds like fuel pressure is bleeding off. Could be a failing fuel pump, or a failing injector, definatly a fuel pressure problem.

is there any way to know for sure which one it could be ? or am should i just go ahead and replace the injectors and the pump all together

You should start cheking the fuel pump and the gas filter I think the pump describes better the failure

Sent from my iPhone using Jeepz

The more likely is the fuel pump by far, its harder to get to, but once a new one is in, thats one thing you wont have to worry about for awhile

Do a pressure test. If pressure is up to specs then Its not Ur pump

well the check engine light has been coming on for quite sometime. way before this problem occurred. it takes maybe 3 minutes of driving and then the check engine comes on and stays on.

This only happens within the first few minutes of driving and once the jeep is warmed up it goes away

So it stops happening about the time the check engine light comes on ?

Have you been to an auto parts store to find out what the OBD (on board diagnostic aka check engine light) code is thats making the light come on ?

I doubt any parts store has a scanner to read the OBDI setup in the '95. It can be done but usually by a decent shop.

I'd start by correcting the problem(s) causing the 'check engine' light to come on. Kind of pointless to track down problems until then.

the local checker (now O'Rielly) checks the light in my '96 when I was working it out, so they should be able to read a '95, most scanners that can read OBDII can read I as well, at least a decent one should.

Auto Parts stores don't use decent scanners, they use cheap OBDII scanners. I wouldn't assume they can check an OBDI setup just because they can scan OBDII.

Not to mention most of the employees are barely able to run an OBDII scanner, let alone find the required data connections for the OBDI setup.

alright guys i did the OBD-I and it showed number 28. This chart goes to 27 which is injector 1 output deriver does not respond properly to the control signal. im assumin 28 would be the injector #2 because it skips up to 33. so im guessing 27 28 29 30 31 32 would all be injectors. So looks like i need to change the fuel injector and not the fuel pump.

luckily injectors are very easy to change, and not expensive, Rockauto.com has the cheap ones with a $9.00 core for $25.00, or a little better name brand for $63.79 and no core

get a Haynes manual, or a freind and a 6-pack, its not really difficult, unclip the wires, unclip or unbolt the injector, the new one goes in the same way the old one comes out, plug it in and done.

Might not be a bad idea if your doing one to do them all if you have the funds.

or, you can pull them and clean them for now. very easy, pull them out and spray them out with carb cleaner on both sides. replace the o-rings and go.

you should have two 10mm or 7/16th bolts holding your fuel rail to the intake. undo the bolts and pull gently on the rail, away from the injectors. some of the injectors will come out and be stuck in the rail and some will stay in the head. its very easy to do and will show you how nasty inside your intake gets.

ok ive attempted to take the fuel injectors out but i cant take the fuel rail off. Do i just need to man handle the damn thing? There are 2 half clamps that are above the rail and it seems like the rail is stuck to it from age. This is preventing me from being able to remove it. Not sure if any of you guys have experienced this but any suggestions?

U shouldn't have to man handle it. Check for more bolts. If u could also post a picture it may help

there is only those two but sometimes the o-rings get stuck. just pull a little harder or use a long handle screw driver as a lever
