Acetone???

Ok, the results are in.....

On my first tank of gas with 4oz of acetone I managed 442.5 miles. I filled up tonight (at $2.79 a gallon!!!) with 17.195 gallons of gas. If I did the math right, that's 25.734 mpg!!! Prior to the acetone treatment, I was getting around 21 mpg, so that's about a 4 mpg improvement! I drive 444 miles a week to and from work, and at 25.734 mpg, I'll use 17.3 gallons a week, 4.9 less than without acetone. That's a difference of 254.8 gallons a year, or at $2.79 a gallon, roughly $711 a year saved. I'm impressed!!

I also ordered my electric fan today, so I should have it in a week or so. Hoping to squeeze a bit more out of the tank with that if I can. I doubt I can go much higher, but who knows?

A Word Of Warning!!!!...... Be careful about putting it in plastic containers!! My first batch I had (measured, of course) in a beer bottle - that was kinda cool pulling up to a gas pump and sticking a beer bottle in my tank!!! Got some strange looks!!! 2nd batch I stuck in a "Slick50 Injector Cleaner" bottle (16 oz.)........Big Mistake!!!!!! That stuff'll eat up certain types of plastic, but I figured the injector cleaner bottle would be OK.......WRONG!! I'm sticking with beer bottles

If it eats plastic, what is it doing to your in-tank fuel pump housing and injector seals??

Just a thought...............

Basically nothing. On one of the other sites I was reading that the concentration of acetone in a 20 gallon tank is something like 640:1. Ya figger 2-4 ounces in 20 gallons, and that's not enough to do any damage at all.

Yeah it's pretty diluted in a 20 gal tank.

Them's some pretty impressive results Sparky! You give my "fuel efficient Jeep" post some hope!
