Before I spend money on an new clutch kit I thought I would asked her to make sure. My 79 cj7 with the 304 amc v8, t150 and model 20 transfer case is having some problems. When I start out in 1st gear it jerks like the clutch slipping. Only happens in first ger though, the other two are just fine, along with reverse. I have noticed some chatter in the area too while driving. I am assuming it's a bad clutch, and possibly flywheel. So before I order the parts and start taking it apart I thought I would get your opinion. THANKS!

RE: cj7 overheating 258

Im not familiar with the t150, but that sounds like it could be a throw out bearing or a bad clutch.

Sounds like a classic worn out disk or one that's been in use so long it's becoming glazed. How many miles on the clutch? 90% of the time you can have the plate turn down unless it's full of cracks. This is were I bought my clutch kit if you're doing it yourself, http://www.dialaclutch.com/progoldstorecont.htm

I bought the LUK Gold Kit, really nice.

Thanks, guess I will get a clutch kit and replace it all. I've never replaced it since I've had it, probably the original from the looks of the jeep when I bought it 5 years ago.
