I have a 95 YJ 2.5 AX5. Recently, 5th to 4th gear changes were clashing.
Got the clutch master pump changed and everything was hunky dory.
A month later, I've been having gear clash from 2-3, but only at high rpm changes, ie at 3,000 and above.
If I have to rev it that high, I've got to press the cluth and lets the revs settle below 2,000 before changing smnoothly..
No clashes in other gears, even at high rpm. I have 110,000 miles on the clock.

What's the problem?

You're synchonizers in the transmission are going bad. Very quickly change the transmission gear oil to a quality synthetic like Redline MT90, it is specially formulated to be easy on the brass synchronizers. It's available online at Redline Oil and Summit Racing. Many jeepers have been using GM Synchromesh lately with improved shifting, it's available at most auto parts stores.

The owner's manual incorrectly recommends a GL-5 rated gear oil for the transmission. GL-5 gear oils have a high sulfer content that is corrosive to the soft synchronizers in the transmission, as well as the GL-5 being too slick for the synchronizers to work properly.

Welcome to the 'bad AX5 and AX15 transmission' club  Change that gear oil now and the transmission may be saveable, don't wait.
