LTBs

This is actually a follow-up to a thread I posted about six months ago. I'm currently running a set of Dunlop Mud Terrain radials (handle great on the street for MTs, but only average on the trail), but I want to go to a more aggressive tire. I'm looking seriously at the LTBs. I do general trail riding in the Southeast, meaning that I run into a little of everything--mud, rocks, v-ditches, roots, etc.

My major questions are: (1) how do they handle on the highway presuming proper inflation and no flat spots (that is, what is their road holding ability)?, (2) how bad are they to flat spot when they've been sitting, and is it solvable with maintaining high tire pressure and/or moving the vehicle around some (and if so, how often)?, and (3) how low do they have to be deflated to get their offroad prowess benefit (I don't have beadlocks, so I'm wondering if the upgrade is worth it to me). Thanks in advance, and I hope you're having a happy holiday season.

Bias plies do flat spot after they sit, but that comes out as the tires warm up. Usually it doesn't take very long. Over inflating them is not the answer.

Also, the pressure when offroad tends to change over time. I've found that my swampers need more air after the sidewalls broke in. I ran them at 6 or 7 pounds at first and now I run them at around 10 to 11

No way around the flat-spotting, inherent in all bias tires, but it doesn't hurt the tire and it works out after the tire warms up within the first 5 minutes of driving. I run a spool in the rear so, with flat spots, the entire rear of my jeep is moving up an down until they work out. No problem.

The LTB is a soft compound tire, softer than other TSL's, and as such it will wear quicker when used onroad. If that's a concern I would look at the regular TSL. Check out the 34"x9.5" or the Q78 if you like 'em a little narrow, these two tires have the most tread depth available from a non-Bogger swamper. The Q78 is close to a 36"x12.5" (a little narrower) with 27/32" tread, almost an inch
