Possibly a wiring issue?

RE: Re: RE: Stupid ground hog

I was driving when suddenly the speedometer and tachometer guages quit working. The engine light and the airbag light also came on. I initially thought the alternator was dying and I was loosing guages and power. That is not the case. The Jeep runs fine. The guages started working again and the two lights went off. A few miles down the road it did it again. A few moments later it all went back to normal again. The third and so far last time it happened I gave the dash a little "bang" with my hand and everything went back to normal immediately.
Could there be a loose wire or something behid the dash?
Thanks!

I had that happen in a Buick Century I drove a long time ago. The wiring harness had vibrated on something for 100k miles, wore through, and started shorting out. It sure did freak me out when all the warning lights came on driving about 75 mph! I'd say look for something similar.

Hey could be the flux core copasitor!

It's a loose connection in the wiring harness behind the guage cluster. It happened to my '98 and was fixed under warranty. That's the best explanation I could get out of the service dept. It comes and goes, too, so, if you're not under warranty, you may want to deal with it.
