Does anyoen know where I can get info on a spring over lift. I already have a 4" shackle lift. Feel the need to get taller. Gonna put 35's on soon. It's on a 90 YJ.

Joopin' is in the middle of his SOA.And White just got done with his. Those two would be the guys to talk to.

4" shackle lift? That would require 12" shackles! Are you sure you didn't mean suspension lift (larger leaf springs)?

i've been through the soa deal... if you have any specific questions, i'll be here to answer them for you...

now some questions for you...

what do you use your jeep for? if it stays onroad, and never goes offroad, the soa is probably not for you

do you know what motor/transmission/axles you have? if you plan on going with 35's, you'll need to consider all that

all the info you'll need is right here in these boards, just ask away

I guess sometimes you have to prove yourself before going on. I'm used to it. I have a 258 power plant with a Chrysler 999 auto. Not happy about the transmission but I just got the Jeep a couple months ago. It has a NV231J t-case, Dana 30 in front and a 35 in back. I bought it from a buddy that ran into the back of a Ford pickup and pushed the grill into the motor. It took me a total of 4 hours to get it back on the road. With a 1 day delay for getting the radiator repaired. The only thing I didn't fix was the front fenders. The jeep will be going any where I feel froggy enough to try to get it. Some of the fourwheeler clubs up here put a lower limit on the tire size. I have 31's on her now. I could probably make it most places but some trails require 33's. Before i got the IM done I tuned her up and she passed right off. It's in the garage right now so I can get under her and find out where the popping is coming from in the front end. The shackles are 9 1/2"s long and were supposed to lift the Jeep 4 ". I'm figuring I got about 3 to 3 1\2"s out of the shackles. Thanks Joopin and Snitty. Hope you guys don't mind me picking your brain from time to time. Tim

Stock shackles are 4" eye to eye, a 5.5" difference with what you have know. That equates to 2.25" of lift since any change in shackle length will lift the jeep half the distance.

Those are some really long shackles, they gotta be hitting everything when offroad. The caster angle in front must be horrible and I can't imagine the rear pinion angle is correct. You'll be doing the right thing if you go SOA and return to stock height shackles.

Just be sure you don't use your current caster angle and pinion angles as a guide when setting up your SOA.

I have figured out the casters are bad and need to be replaced. eye to eye on the shackles are 6.25. I just checked it. I've been checking out the links Joopin sent me and I'm seeing what I'll have to do. I'm going to get the popping fixed first and start collecting the parts for the SOA. We have a great 4x4 and gear shop up here that can make a new drive shaft for the rear. I think this is the way to go. May have to install a tilt meter for some of the trails around here tho.lol not.

Okay, 2.25" of difference in shackle height netting you 1.125" of lift over stock.

There should be no shims on the front lead springs. You could install shims under the spring pad to correct caster and/or pinion angle. You should be okay with that little of a shackle lift.

with that new drive shaft, you're gonna want a double cardan cv style shaft to accomodate the angle that it will be running at. if you go with 35 inch tires, you'll want to upgrade at least your rear axle or you will definitely break it offroad

Yeah the fact that I wanted larger than 33s delayed my project to look for a D44... it is well worth it if you find the right one. I found one with stock WMS length and the same lug pattern. Now that I'm puttin the D44 under the YJ, I am much more confident about runnin my new 36s.

Happy Thanksgiving and the president is in iraq....

hello .
We used a rubicon express kit.
About 300.00
consist of stainless break lines, pitman drop, front track bar extension (relocation ), Weld on perches , and some shock mounts they we don't know how to use (so we made our own)...

Quick run down.
The perches used on a 30 and 35 were a little loose. Not a snug fit, Made it a little hard to keep a good penetration and even spread...

Stainless lines did not come with brass seals, so buy new ones. Good luck getting the old lines apart.

The pitman was really on there (as always). Buy a good puller...

You remove the rear track bar and do not reuse it.
The front trac bar gets an extension that goes on in 5 min.

Not sure what they were thinking with the shock mounts. So making your own extensions was the easy way out for us.

benefits- Super soft ride and alot of flex !!!!! .

(whats oppisite of benefits ? )
oh well CONS- Not a good quality kit. seemed like it was just thrown together, Could of easily made our own kit, except the stainless lines and the pitman. But they could be bought seperate...
Under skid clearence is 16in. now. .....

Good Luck !

on the issue of those old brake lines. i had to replace all of the old brake lines on my rig when i install Stainless steel extensions cause the fittings wouldnt come apart. oh well one less thing i have to worry about.

I bought that RE SOA kit, brass seals on the lines? Do I need them? or is it just a suggestion. If I do want brass seals can I still use the lines that RE gave me?

did they give you the seals ? our kit did not have any.
Iam talking about the seals that get bolted to the front caliper.

Its highly recommended to replace them every time you take the calipers apart.
