Threadlocker - Red vs Blue vs Gel vs Liquid

I'd like to get a bottle of threadlocker to throw in my offroading bag, but it looks like there a bunch of flavors out there these days.

Essentially I'm looking for a single threadlocker that will do most of what I'd want on my Jeep. Does anyone have opinions on which one is easiest to use? I tend to get the liquid everywhere, as it runs off the threads - I've never tried the Gel before.

Looking on Advance Auto Parts these seem to be the stand outs

Permatex Blue Liquid

Permatex Blue Gel:

Permatex Orange Gel:

Red Gel

Or red "high temperature"

I prefer Loctite brand. Loctite Blue is a good choice for field repairs and connections that you might want to take apart later. Loctite Red requires heating to 500°F to remove fasteners with common tools.

Loctite Green is a wicking locker and csn be applied after assembly.

Loctite Blue for sure and maybe Loctite Green should take care if most field repairs. I'd use Loctite Blue if possible and save Loctite Green when Blue can't be used.

If your threadlocker is too runny, you may be using too much or need to shake it up or massage the tube to keep it mixed.

I've got a bottle of loctite blue and red, but I have no idea how old they are (maybe 10 years or so). I can shake them up, but if you tip it over it will run out like water. I bet that these are just too old and need to be replaced.

I'll pick up some blue and green.

i have used red locktite to lock wheel studs in place when going from bolts to studs. it held for a while but would eventually be able to be removed with just a ratchet and an allen head socket. i wanted it to permanent but it spun loose when removing lug nuts

I bought some loctite on Amazon. In hindsight, I probably should have stuck with my local parts store as one of them expires in 6 months. On the plus side, the bottles are huge

I'm not sure what angle they were going with one of the bottles having a sharpie marking out what I believe to be tax details.

they put a red sticker over top the product of India designation.

I returned both of those bottles to Amazon, and ended up getting some Permatex threadlocker. After reading a bit, it looks like Permatex bought Loctite, and they are basically the same thing.

I've started using the Permatex orange. It claims to be high strength while removable by hand tools. So far so good.
