Under body rust

I have lots of rust under my 87 yj, and just wanted to know the best way to get rid of it? Im pretty sure atleast most of it is just surface rust. Any tips?

A pressure washer works good to get rid of the scale, and big stuff. After that get some paint on it.

pressure wash belt sand and paint, POR-15 or bedliner work well

I've always heard good things about POR15. Your suppose to be able to paint it right over rust and stop it in it's tracks. I'd probably hit it with a wire brush on a grinder before I put it on but thats just me. POR15 has no UV protection so if it's in a place where the sun will hit it you'll want to top coat it. Anthor product a friend just tried on his tub is Chassie Saver, suppose to do the same as POR15 but it's cheaper and you don't have to worry about the UV rays. I'm thinking about doing the underside and inside of mine with the Chassie Saver.
