Wheel upgrade

Does anyone know can I put 17 wheels on a 2002 Jeep Liberty that came with 16's?

If the lug pattern is the same, and the wheels have the correct backspacing/offset then you should be able to, but getting the correct tire size to fit in the wheelwells properly may take a little reasearch.

Now my turn to ask a question... why 17" wheels?

Why 17s? Because they are SOOO much cooler! No, actually, because I have seen some good prices on ebay. I would rather have 15s, but I would have to change so many things to make that fit. Since I don't have tires yet, I thought I might broaden my seach to both 16s and 17s. What I have is stock steel Liberty wheels and tires that need to be replaced.
