Paragon 2/3/07

I've pre-registered for the monthly ride at Paragon on 2/3. Anybody else planning on going?

Also, quick question for anyone who's been there before, do I need to provide anything other than tow straps? Specifically, I'm wondering about flags or anything like that.

That all depends if I can get my lift installed by then. I have gone the last two months but can"t take the lack of flex of my 89 wrangler with 31" bfg no lift. To much rubbing on the level 1 monthly ride. I"ll go back after my lift. It's a ton of fun!

The needs for level 1 and 2 are: 1 tow point front of Jeep (factory hooks count)
tow strap without metal hooks
orange flag 1' over roof, they sell them there for $18
optional CB radio cell phone service is ify
battery hold down

Have Fun

F&R tow points, a CB, at least one recovery strap (not a tow strap).

You can pick up recovery straps at tractor supply ;)

It's going to be busy with the baby coming in Feb but I'll check to see if we can squeeze it in. I'd like to go to PAP before they're gone :(

Does the TJ not have a battery hold down from the factory? Or is this something different?

Otherwise, I have tow hooks front and rear, unfortunately no CB yet, and if I can just buy the flag there that's fine. I'll have to order a tow strap from Quadratec or something this afternoon. I'll look into it.

Thanks for the info.

TC, if you could make it would you be taking the YJ or the LJ?? Or both? :)

Definitely the YJ. Your stock battery hold down is all you need. A CB is a worthwhile investment as you are clueless as to what is going on without it. You can get one and a magnetic antenna very cheap. I just put a cigarette lighter plug on mine, and you can have it all hooked up in 5 minutes.

The TSC (Tractor Supply Co) in York has some really nice recovery straps, just make sure you don't buy a tow strap (especially one with a metal hook built into it).

Recovery straps are made to stretch and give a recoil action to help get you unstuck. They will hold up to jerking, unlike a tow strap which is more prone to breaking when used in an offroad recovery.

Just stating what they want you to have when they stop you at the gate, everything else they say they don"t check for. I also mentioned the battery hold down b/c when I bought my jeep it didn't have one so I wound up using a cheep ratcheting tie strape to tie it in there to be legal to ride.

The recovery strap I brought with was the one I bought at Home Depot when my brother got his 2wd Explorer stuck in a snowbank. Worked then and still works now. Think it was under $20. Not sure if I should be using something else.
